Stay Healthy Streets

No matter how you get around West Seattle, you likely will make some trips walking, pushing a stroller or rolling in a wheelchair. We are supporting people walking and rolling safely by converting some existing, neighborhood greenways (calm residential streets) into Stay Healthy Streets.

Stay Healthy Streets are closed to vehicles - but not residents or deliveries - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (until further notice). This decreased vehicle traffic makes these streets a safer place for you to make trips and explore neighborhoods by walking, rolling, or riding.

Want to enjoy the benefits of Stay Healthy Streets on your block? Read our guidelines and then request a Stay Healthy Block permit. You may soon see residential streets around schools turned into Stay Healthy Blocks to create more space for children into and out of schools.

Mini grants available for organizing Safe Routes to School

As schools reopen with staggered start and end times, you will see parents and children walking, biking and rolling to and from school. Parents and community organizations: did you know there are resources available to organize or support safer routes to school?
