S Warsaw St

green seattle partnership logo We have partnered with Seattle Parks and Recreation's Green Seattle Partnership (GSP) to establish S Warsaw St shoreline street end as a habitat restoration site.

Overview

Based on community feedback, we have moved forward with designating the site to be an extension of the habitat restoration area in Martha Washington Park managed by GSP, which has developed an effective, proven model for restoring native habitat in our natural areas. Design, preparation, planting, and maintenance will be guided by staff and policies that have restored over 1,300 of forested parkland across Seattle while simultaneously building a locally-committed community of urban forest supporters who donate nearly 80,000 volunteer hours to the program each year.

Project Schedule

In the first weeks of February 2016, our maintenance crews cut back invasive blackberry bushes to limit the impact on native birds. GSP began preparing the site this spring for habitat restoration work and will be responsible for managing the space over the next three years, at which point it will turn the site back over to us for long-term maintenance.

Sign-up for project notifications. We are always looking to partner with residents and local groups to improve our shoreline street ends and enhance our neighborhoods. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a shoreline street end steward, please email StreetEnds@seattle.gov.
