2nd Ave PBLStreets Illustrated Photo Contest Aug 22-Sep 19, 2016

To promote the release of the updated Right-of-Way Improvement Manual, 'Streets Illustrated', SDOT is holding a photo contest! Show us your favorite Seattle streets and showcase the elements that make them so great.

The top 12 submissions will receive free Pronto day passes and their photos will be used in SDOT's Streets Illustrated Calendar. In addition to the day passes, the first place winner will win a $300 gift card at Glazers Camera Store. Second and third prize winners will receive $100 and $50 gift cards.

The contest ends on September 19th at 5pm. Winners will be announced and contacted on September 22, 2016. Entries will be reviewed and judged by the SDOT project team behind the updated manual.


Judging Criteria

Broadway - colorful pavementJurors will judge the photos using the following criteria:

  • Creativity: how unique is your photo?
  • Image quality: only high quality images will be considered.
  • Subject Matter: we encourage you to consider many different types and uses of streets, including
    • Downtown Streets
    • Residential Streets
    • Connector Streets (not including highways)
    • Urban Village Streets
    • Street Details
  • How well have you showcased the street?

We encourage you to consider a variety of shots for your submission. Will your photo be a still shot or one that shows motion? Is it day or night? Show a diversity of street types, activities, people, and weather. For a list of the different street types featured in the manual and where to find them, click here.


This competition is in no way sponsored by Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. By submitting your photo/s you agree that if your submission is chosen as one of the top twelve winning photos, you will provide SDOT with the original file and the copyright to your winning photo to be used for promotional purposes. Your work will be credited! Winners will be contacted by September 22nd 2016 and will receive their prizes within 3 weeks.
