Rainier Corridor Paving Project
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will repave two sections of Rainier Avenue S; a large section of 51st Avenue S; and a one block section of S Henderson Street in 2011. The work is all part of the 2011 Rainier Avenue S Corridor Paving Project.
The project is funded by the “Bridging the Gap” transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
This project will resurface sections of the roadway and make other street-related improvements along the Rainier Avenue corridor and adjacent areas. Benefits include:

Construction is scheduled to begin in early July 2011 and be completed in November 2011. Construction will be phased to better manage traffic and disruptions. Phases 1 through 4 will not be under construction at the same time. More detailed schedule information will be provided during construction.
*In each of the major phases of construction (phases 1-4), traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, up to 24 hrs a day, and as much as seven days per week. Uniformed police officers will be on hand to help keep traffic moving at key intersections.
