Zone 30 Facts
- The Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ) for the Othello station area will be Zone 30
- The hours of the zone will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
- Most vehicles can stay up to two hours without a permit; in some locations a four-hour time limit is being installed at the request of nearby businesses
Community Input Incorporated Into Light Rail Parking Plans
- The ideas and concerns of residents and employees around the southeast light rail stations were critical to developing this parking management plan
- In response to community comments, here are changes from the December 2008 draft proposal:
- The Zone will not be initially installed on S Frontenac Street west of 44 th Ave South
- Streets next to Othello Park will be signed as RPZ allowing vehicles without permits to stay for up to four hours. SDOT and Parks will coordinate to ensure that vendors operating activities in the Park are able to park using temporary passes
Zone 30 Schedule – What You Need to Know Now
- Installation of signs will begin in April or May – a door hanger will be delivered to each affected address approximately two weeks before installation is to begin
- RPZ Applications will be mailed out beginning in May
- Enforcement of new regulations will begin when Link light rail service begins in July
Please email lightrailparking@seattle.gov or call 206.684.8186 to provide specific street comments or questions about the parking management recommendations. Visit the FAQ, too. The answer to your question might be there!
Othello Utilization Data
Throughout fall 2008, SDOT collected information about utilization, which is how many cars are parked on the streets around the light rail stations. This information, summarized in the Link Station Area Parking Study, is being used two ways: to help design proposals to manage on-street parking and to create a baseline that on-street parking conditions can be compared to in the future.
