Ninth Avenue becomes two-way with bike and parking lanes

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is making Ninth Avenue from Broad Street to Denny Way easier to use for motor vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. Ninth is being permanently converted to two-way operations, bicycle lanes are being added, some crosswalks repainted and parking retained.

Benefits of a two-way Ninth Avenue:

• Functions better with the new two-way Westlake
• Supports the two-way Mercer Corridor project
• Adds new bike lanes in South Lake Union
• Maintains short-term parking for nearby businesses
• Makes crosswalks more visible
• Improves other transportation options to the car helping to reduce greenhouse gases
