Uptown has frequent, direct transit service to many Seattle destinations: Downtown, Capitol Hill, Fremont , Wallingford , U District, Green Lake , Northgate, Ballard, Magnolia. Wow! Where can’t you go on a Metro bus from Uptown? Connections are easily made to routes that travel to other parts of the city and suburban locations.
Check the Uptown Bus Bike and Walk Map for specific bus routes near you and information on bicycling and walking.

- Night Stop: a convenience for Metro customers to help you feel secure traveling at night.
- Travel Options: flexible and responsive service for persons over 65 and those with disabilities — including Access van service, taxi scrip, lifts on buses, reduced fare permits, and more.
- The volunteer Adopt-A-Stop Program — you can help maintain neighborhood appearance by reducing litter around your bus stop.
- Bus Chick, Transit Authority : Carla Saulter is one of a growing number of Seattleites who have chosen to live without a car. Because Seattle still does not have in-city rapid transit, she takes the bus everywhere — really, everywhere — she goes. On any given Saturday night, you can find her running for the number 27 in heels and a backless dress.
Bicycling and Walking
- Metro Bike Information: Metro’s bicycle programs such as bikes on buses, bicycle lockers at Metro park-and-ride lots and to access the King County Bicycling Guidemap.

- Metro’s Bike Buddy program matches you with a trained volunteer familiar with the commute between your neighborhood and workplace.

Rideshare
- RideshareOnline.com: ridematching service for both regular commutes and special events. Helpful hints for finding a match, starting or joining a carpool or vanpool and links to rideshare rewards.
Other Transportation Resources
- Flexcar: If you only need a car for a few hours a week or month consider Flexcar, with more than 100 cars, pickup trucks and minivans located throughout Seattle . You can drive one when you need to for about $9/hour, with gas, insurance and a reserved parking spot included. Uptown has several Flexcar locations (See the Bus, Bike and Walk map) and the list is growing, so Uptowners are never far from a Flexcar.
