Improving our community through healthier travel choices...

Uptown is getting In Motion this summer. The Seattle Department of Transportation, King County Metro, The Uptown Alliance, The Greater Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce and Uptown merchants have teamed up to help Uptown residents get around the neighborhood by bus, bike, or on foot. By making a pledge to reduce their drive-alone trips by at least two per week, In Motion participants will improve their health and that of the community and the planet.

This is your chance to get the help you need to learn how to get around without your car -- at least some of the time. So take the drive less pledge today -- and earn valuable rewards for getting yourself In Motion!

How to participate:

For 10 weeks beginning in July and continuing into late September, people living in Uptown will have many opportunities to get IN MOTION - by busing, biking, walking and sharing rides.

  • Register. Everyone eligible who registers will receive TEN METRO FREE RIDE TICKETS.
  • Pledge to reduce driving alone in the car by at least two trips each week. This means changing two trips you might normally take in a car alone to walk, bike, bus or carpool trips.
  • Report your progress through weekly trip logs and earn points for each trip log you submit. Record your trips by mail-in postcard or even better, do it online. All you have to do is log in with your e-mail address and password.

Great Rewards for Participating

  • Receive free Metro bus tickets just for registering.
  • Receive an In Motion tote bag the first time you report in!
  • Earn valuable vouchers, receive discounts and qualify for prize drawings for every week you keep your pledge and report your saved trips. And the longer you keep reducing your driving, the more rewards you receive and the more prize drawings you can enter.
  • Win an instant prize if you’re spotted sporting your In Motion pin.

Who is eligible to participate?

  • You must live OR WORK in Uptown OR QUEEN ANNE. This means you must live or work in the 98119 or 98109 zip code and live or work west of Aurora Ave. (If you live in South Lake Union, In Motion is coming to your neighborhood this fall!)
  • You must be 16 or older. (If you have younger kids, get them involved in your drive less trips - it’s a great way to build healthy habits for the future!)
  • You must have at least one car in your household (so that you have car trips that you can reduce.)
