Burke-Gilman Trail Extension Projects
Seaview Ave NW & Seaview Place NW Intersection
Updated September 7, 2006
May 31, 2006 Per the work schedule, the improvements planned for the intersection of
Seaview Ave NE and Seaview Place NW Intersection were completed last week
in time for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The new curb bulbs, wheel
chair curb ramps, marked crosswalk, sidewalks, and landscaping set the
stage for a future monument that will commemorate the history of the Burke
Gilman Trail, railroad, and surrounding communities.
May 10, 2006 Last week, our SDOT crews were unable to complete the paving of the new curb bulb on the southeast corner of Seaview Ave NW and Seaview Place NW and the sidewalks within the parking lot. They will be paved this Friday. This work should not affect drivers entering the parking lot, as the driveways to the east of the work site are open and accessible. Signs are also guiding motorists through the area. SDOT Traffic Signs and Channelization crews will also layout lane and crosswalk markings this week, and we anticipate that this work to be completed next week, the week of May 15. Also next week, the Parks Department crews will begin landscaping the area.
We still anticipate finishing the project on-time, by Memorial Day, May 29.
May 4, 2006 SDOT's crews have been making great progress on the construction work
at the intersection of Seaview Ave NW and Seaview Place NW - the
Burke-Gilman Trail Head at the entrance to Golden Gardens Park. They
have completed the curbs and wheelchair curb ramps inside the parking
lot area and are finishing the curb and ramp out in the street where the
traffic island used to be. Today and tomorrow, May 4 and 5, the crews
are paving - this is the final phase of SDOT's work on this project. We
will continue to keep you updated when the Parks and Recreation
Department begins its landscaping work at the site. We remain on target
to complete this project before the Memorial Day weekend.

April 13, 2006 We have removed the curb and asphalt in the northwest parking lot of
Golden Gardens Park. The new curbs are being formed and, weather
permitting, we should be ready to pave tomorrow, Friday, April 14. Just
as we are phasing this work, we will continue to work in sections so as
to minimize the impact to park-goers. Next week we willl work on the
curb on the other side of the entrance to the Park.
