Burke Mill Road Now Closed
Burke Mill Road-known to some as Canal Drive-is now closed underneath the Fremont Bridge to all traffic (cars, bikes and pedestrians), and will remain closed through Spring/Summer 2007.
The road, which passes under the Fremont Bridge between Adobe and Getty, remains open at Stone and the Aurora Ramp on the east side, and at Evanston and Phinney on the west side, but no traffic will be permitted to pass underneath the bridge itself for safety reasons.
A map with descriptions of alternate routes into and out of the Quadrant Lake Union Center is available from email@example.com upon request.
Business Community Briefing - Thursday 10/6
A meeting will be held next Thursday, October 6th at the Fremont Baptist Church (717 N. 36th) to brief the business community on the Fremont Bridge Approach Project. We will provide information on the overall project schedule and answer questions about the improvements underway.
The meeting is for all the businesses in the Fremont area; owners and managers are particularly encouraged to attend.
Maintenance Shop Demolition Begins Soon
The building under the south approach to the Fremont Bridge will be demolished and removed the week after next in preparation for construction of the new approach support structures.
The City plans to build a new maintenance shop once the bridge approach construction is complete.
Bridge Way Work Begun at Eastbound Off Ramp
Construction on the Bridge Way N. street improvements has begun with a temporary diversion for those vehicles headed east from the northbound off ramp. All traffic exiting Highway 99 at Bridge Way is being directed to the stop sign at 38th, to turn either left toward Fremont Way or right toward Stone Way.
This temporary traffic modification is the first in a series of modifications to allow the project construction.
The Metro bus stop (for routes 16, 26, 45, 46, and 82), previously located on the small traffic island at Bridge Way & Winslow Place, has been temporarily relocated 2 blocks northeast along Bridge Way, between Albion Place and Woodland Park Avenue. The island stop for northbound Route 5 passengers is also temporarily closed. Those passengers can board at the next northbound stop on Fremont Way North, north of Linden Avenue North.
