Dear CTAC Members,

I am a Capitol Hill resident writing to urge you to direct $5 million of vehicle 
license fee revenue toward bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure improvements, 
and that $2.5 million of this be dedicated to developing low-stress, 
family-friendly neighborhood greenways.

Cities like Berkley, New York, Austin, Portland, and others have found that 
world-class neighborhood greenways cost roughly $250,000 per mile, including 
outreach, planning, design, engineering, and construction. Yet these cities are 
dedicating funds to neighborhood greenways because they improve mobility and 
livability for all citizens - whether they walk, bike, drive or take transit - 
and because investments in bike and pedestrian infrastructure come with a higher 
return on investment than any other mode.

A dedicated funding source that builds 10 miles of neighborhood greenways each 
year will put Seattle firmly on a track to developing a comprehensive, citywide 
network of greenways that serves all users in all parts of the city. Please help 
Seattle get on that path by directing vehicle license fee funds toward 
neighborhood greenways.
