2009 City-Wide Planned Transportation Construction

Welcome to SDOT's construction coordination map. This map captures planned transportation projects, detour routes, major private development and special events. SDOT uses it to identify possible conflicts and help to resolve them. Use it to learn what's planned for your neighborhood or along your commute.

What's New - Updates from 10/2/09 to 10/16/09
- Find our new Weekly Construction Look Ahead in list form (http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/constructionlookahead.htm) and geographically (http://www.seattle.gov/travelers). Lots of great information
- Westbound S Spokane St (between 1st and 4th) will be closing mid-October, enabling the construction of a new 41’ wide upper roadway directly over the westbound lanes and the complete replacement of the existing street, curbs and sidewalks
- Up-coming Mariners games: 10/3-4
- Up-coming Sounders games: 10/24
- Up-coming Seahwaks games: 10/11
- Up-coming Husky games: 10/10

What's New - Updates from 9/4/09 to 9/18/09
- A new sidewalk project has been announced for 45th Ave S. This is a pilot "shared" street for bikes, peds and motorists. Construction to start soon.
- 1st Ave South reconstruction (between Stacey and Horton Streets) is now complete!
- Paving on 16th Ave SW in West Seattle will be complete and fully open no later than September 25th!
- Paving on 4th Ave in the SODO area will begin late September/early October starting at S Jackson and moving north.
- Up-coming Mariners games: 9/18-20 and 9/29-10/4
- Up-coming Sounders games: 9/19
- Up-coming Seahawks games: 9/27 and 10/11
- Up-coming Husky games: 9/19

What's New - Updates from 8/24/09 to 9/4/09
- The sidewalk projects happening throughout the city now have revised schedules. Check your neighborhood for completion dates on sidewalks near you!
- Bumbershoot is coming up this Labor Day Weekend. Expect heavy traffic around the Seattle Center grounds.
- Up-coming Mariners games: 9/15-20 and 9/29-10/4
- Up-coming Sounders games: 9/19
- Up-coming Seahwaks games: 9/13, 9/27 and 10/11

What's New - Updates from 8/12/09 to 8/24/09
- The rebuild of 1st Ave S in the SODO area will be wrapping up in mid to late September with new pavement and fresh channelization markings.
- Bumbershoot is coming up Labor Day Weekend (September 5-7) at the Seattle Center.
- Up-coming Mariners games: 8/24-31 9/1-9/2
- Up-coming Sounders games: 8/29 and 9/19
- Up-coming Seahwaks games: 9/3 and 9/13

What's New - Updates from 7/17/09 to 8/12/09
- The Mercer Corridor project will begin in early 2010 instead of 2009 as originally planned.
- Marion Street paving is happening between Western and 6th Avenue downtown. Work will begin at Western and move east.
- Many new Special Events have been added lately. Check back often for addition events!
- Up-coming Mariners games: 8/7-8/16 and 9/1-9/2
- Up-coming Sounders games: 8/20 and 8/29
- Up-coming Seahawks games: 8/22 and 9/3

What's New - Updates from 7/6/09 to 7/17/09
- Due to Stewart Street paving, Stewart Street will be restricted to just one lane between 5th Avenue and 1st Avenue beginning July 27th until mid-September. - Marion Street paving begins August 3rd between Western and 6th Avenue downtown. Work will begin at Western and move east. - July 25 will be a very busy event day! The Mariners and Sounders both have games in SODO, and the Torchlight Run will be going on in Downtown along 4th Avenue. - Up-coming Mariners games: 7/24-29 and 8/7-8/16 - Up-coming Sounders games: 7/18, 7/25 and 8/5

What's New - Updates from 6/19/09 to 7/6/09
- July 25 will be a very busy event day! The Mariners and Sounders both have games in SODO, and the Torchlight Run will be happening downtown along 4th Avenue.
- July 18 is the opening day of Light Rail and the Sounders are playing Chelsea. SODO will be quite busy!
- Many project information links have been revised to direct users to up-to-date web sites.
- Second Avenue paving has begun (Pike Street to S Jackson Street) in the downtown area.
- I-90 Westbound lanes are currently closed (24/7) until July 20th for the replacement of expansion joints. Westbound traffic is being detoured to the Express Lanes.
- Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic happening July 11th.
- Bite of Seattle happening at the Seattle Center July 17th-19th.
- Up-coming Mariners games: 7/9-12, 7/24-29
- Up-coming Sounders games: 7/11. 7/18 and 7/25

What's New - Updates from 6/5/09 to 6/19/09
- SR 520 Bridge is closed this weekend: Friday 6/19 at 11pm till Monday 6/22 at 5am.
- Paving along 4th Avenue from Denny to Stewart is scheduled to be complete the week of June 22nd, one month ahead of schedule
- The University Bridge Painting project is now complete, four months ahead of schedule
- Fremont Fair and Parade: June 20th-21st
- Lance Armstrong's LiveStrong Challenge Event: June 21st
- Rock n Roll Marathon happens June 27th on many major streets in Seattle, including I-90 and Aurora Ave/SR 99
- Up-coming Mariners games: 6/19-21, 6/23-25
- Up-coming Sounders games: 6/28

What's New - Updates from 5/16/09 to 6/5/09
- SDOT will do base repair and re-pave southbound 1st Ave S between S Jackson and S King Streets (June 8-12, 7am to 3pm each day)
- POSTPONED until 2010: Full closure on 15th Ave NE at NE 105th
- Some downtown paving project dates have been revised, including Virginia Street paving (moved to 2010)
- The Mercer Corridor project has been moved on month later and will now begin in October
- There will be drilling along the bored tunnel route in preparation for the Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement project (Jun-Sept)
- Race for the Cure on June 7th - expect traffic congestion around the Alaskan Way Viaduct and the stadiums
- University of Washington Commencement on June 13th - expect traffic congestion
- Fremont Fair and parade June 20th-21st
- Up-coming Mariners games: 6/5, 6/6, 6/7, 6/19, 6/20, 6/21
- Up-coming Sounders games: 6/13, 6/17

What's New - Updates from 4/27/09 to 5/15/09
- Burke Gilman Trail to be closed between the Fremont Bridge and Phinney Ave N for approx. 3 weeks
- New "information" icons replace push pins on the map
- Railroad Track removal on Terrry Ave is complete as of 4/25/09
- New bicycle facility projects added throughout the city
- Up-coming Mariners games: 5/15, 5/16, 5/17, 5/18, 5/19, 5/20, 5/21, 5/22, 5/23, 5/24

Updates from 4/14/09 to 4/27/09
- Dates updated for University Link related I-5 ramp closures (Olive Way, Pike/Pine and Cherry St ramps)
- Arterial Major Maintenance projects removed throughout the city
- Non-Arterial Major Maintenance projects removed throughout the city
- Streets scheduled to be chip sealed added to the map between 145th and 135th in NE Seattle
- The East Duwamish Waterway Bridge Rehabilitation project starts April 24th
- SDOT Street Rehabilitation added on 1st Ave S in SODO
- Up-coming Mariners games: 5/1, 5/2, 5/3, 5/4, 5/5
- Up-coming Sounders games: 5/10

Updates from 3/26/09 to 4/14/09
- Railroad Track removal on Terry Ave between Mercer St and Thomas St during April/May.
- SR 519: 3rd Ave closure dates modified - 3/30/09 thru early spring 2010
- SR 519: 4th Ave closure dates modified - 5/1/2009 thru early spring 2010
- Full and partial closures of S. Royal Brougham Way between Occidental Ave S. and Fourth Ave S from Mid-April 2009 through early spring 2010
- Work on 24th Ave E between Boyer Ave E to E Interlaken Blvd is now COMPLETE
- SDOT paving projects now underway in the downtown area: 4th Ave and Stewart St
- New Sidewalk projects added to the map in the South Seattle vicinity
- Seattle Mariners home opener on April 14th
