Car Free Day—Alki Beach The third car free day is being held September 7 from noon until 6 p.m. The city is opening up a route along Alki from California Way SW around Alki Beach. Enjoy cruising without a car and see what it is like to have a direct connection from your neighborhood to the beach. Start a softball game, roller skate, or dabble in chalk art. Be creative, have fun and see what the city could be like if we drive less. Some of the activities already planned include: a balloon artist, Hula Hoop lessons, Cones for Kids, and Buskers. Click here to see the detour route. Parking will be restricted along the route from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please plan ahead and observe posted parking restrictions to avoid being cited or towed. Access exceptions will be made for emergency vehicles and people with disabilities. If you are doing an activity on the sidewalk, please make sure to leave space for wheelchairs to use. Please make your trip to the event car free. Visit our Commuter Toolkit web page to learn more about options to driving. Cascade Bike Club volunteers will lead 3 bike rides to Alki Car Free Day including:

If Seattleites drove every vehicle 1,000 miles less a year, we would meet our current climate pollution reduction goals. See Seattle's Climate Action Now Initiative for more information.
