Burke-Gilman Trail Extension Projects
Area under railroad tracks, West of 34th Ave NW
Updated February 20, 2003
This section is not as wide as the sections to the North and to the East. A retaining wall will be built adjacent to the trail to take advantage of as much land as possible through this corridor, and to maintain minimum clearance from the railroad tracks. There will be no landscaping on this section.
This configuration will continue for approximately 75 feet on each side of the railroad tracks where it will transition back to the previous configuration with a curb, sidewalk, trail, and landscaping.

The landscaping strips will narrow as they approach the railroad crossing seen in the distance. There is limited width under the crossing due to the abutments. A retaining wall will be built to take full advantage of the available width.
