Burke-Gilman Trail Extension Projects

32nd Avenue NW to NW 60th Street

Updated February 20, 2003

This section of trail will run along the South side of NW 54th St. and the West side of Seaview Ave NW until it reaches the three-way intersection of Seaview Ave NW, 37th Pl NW, and 38th Ave NW (Approximately NW 60th St).

The southbound curb lane will be moved 6 feet into the roadway, essentially narrowing the road. From the curb, the new typical cross section will be 6 feet of landscaping, 5 feet of sidewalk, 10 feet of trail and 5 feet of landscaping. This configuration will vary slightly depending upon the particular location.

A gravel area just west of the railroad tracks which is currently used for access and parking for private residences along the ship canal will be decreased in size and access points will be consolidated. Street lighting will be relocated throughout the corridor to accommodate the new trail.

This unofficial parking area in city right of way will be narrowed to make room for the trail and landscaping.
