Preparing for Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Construction:
Keeping Seattle's industrial centers moving
The city of Seattle and Washington State Department of Transportation commissioned the Manufacturing Industrial Council (MIC) to talk with businesses about how to best manage construction impacts associated with the replacement of the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall.
This web site will help you navigate through a summary of those interviews and review key findings. It is through processes like this that we are better able to understand the issues and concerns of industrial area businesses. Already ideas are being considered for keeping freight moving during construction. These include: identifying downtown routes and prioritizing them for freight during certain times of the day; upgrading signals to give freight priority, installing changeable message signs for 'real-time' information and lane stripping; providing information on major construction changes at least 30 days in advance. Read more about how traffic impacts may be decreased on the project web site. The city of Seattle remains committed to helping those who will be impacted by construction.
