About
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is convening a Policy and Operations Advisory Group (POAG) starting in June 2020. This is a new forum for our modal, business, and transportation equity groups to hear from and learn about each other's interests and concerns while providing guidance to SDOT on right-of-way allocation decisions and how we operate the transportation system. The POAG members will share their perspectives on SDOT policy development and will share additional perspectives from their own Boards, Commissions, and organizations. The POAG serves as a sounding board and learning lab for policy development proposals aiming to better integrate our modal plans and inform the operation of Seattle's streets.
The outcomes from the meetings will vary depending on what we learn. We imagine the advice provided by the POAG could result in further policy refinements and broader community engagement. The POAG will be piloted over the course of six meetings in 2020. After the conclusion of these meetings, SDOT will be evaluating the continuation of this model for facilitating future conversations about citywide policy needs that cut across mode-specific considerations.
Committee members
For the pilot year, POAG members were solicited from existing boards, commissions, and organizations through an application process to lend their expertise to the policy and operations challenges at hand.
