South Jackson Improvement Project

01/23/2007 Construction Update S Jackson Street; 12th Avenue S; Rainier Avenue S

Work on traffic signals, pavement restoration, and removal of old utility poles is currently underway. Depending on weather conditions, construction activity is scheduled for completion within the next two weeks. Construction is taking place on the four corners of 12th Avenue S. and S. Jackson Street. Work is also being performed at the intersection of S. Jackson Street/Rainier Avenue S./14th Avenue S. and along 12th Avenue S. from S. Weller to S. Jackson Street.

The installation of the new poles, traffic signal mast arms, and the transfer of existing utilities from the old to the new system will require work on weekdays and weekends throughout the month of January***.

***Work will take place on both Saturday and Sunday on the weekend of January 27, 28. Generally, weekend work takes place on Saturdays only.

Lane closures will be necessary as well as some sidewalk closures.


01/16/07 Construction Update: S Jackson Street; 12th Avenue S; Rainier Avenue S

The contractor has completed the installation of the utility poles. 12/28/2006 Construction Update: S Jackson Street; 12th Avenue S; Rainier Avenue S

As reported to you in November, much of the construction work that has been going on the last several months is complete.

The contractor completed the installation of the utility pole foundations last week. The new utility poles are scheduled to be installed the first week in January 2007. Traffic signal-related work, pavement restoration work, and removal of old utility poles are scheduled to occur in the month following pole installation. Construction will take place on the four corners of 12th Avenue S. and S. Jackson Street. Work will also be performed at the intersection of S. Jackson Street/Rainier Avenue S./14th Avenue S. and along 12th Avenue S. from S. Weller to S. Jackson Street.
