Street Intersections to be Closed for Final Drainage Work on N 41st St

Beginning this week, the contractor will begin restoring the concrete panels on N 41st Street between Stone Way N and Ashworth Ave N. To complete the street restoration work it will be necessary to close the following intersections during the times indicated:

    • N 41st Street and Ashworth Avenue N - January 31 to February 5, 2007
    • N 41st Street and Interlake Avenue N - February 5, 2007 to February 10, 2007

Essentially, the street will "dead end" at the intersections. Access will be maintained to every residence at all times. However, it will be necessary for some residents to take an alternate route to their homes.

Residents can call the 24-hour phone number previously given by the contractor for emergencies, (206) 718-6841.

    • All parking will be open on Interlake with the exception of approximately one space at each corner of N 41st Street.

    • There are also some minor parking restrictions on N 41st east of Ashworth for some staging of construction materials.

Drainage Work Begins on N 41st St and Stone Way N

SDOT will begin making drainage improvements to your neighborhood beginning November 14th, 2006. This work includes a main storm drain extension on N 41st Street between Stone Way N and Ashworth Ave N and new catch basins on Stone Way N. The work is expected to be completed at the end of December 2006.

The main storm drain extension will be constructed beneath the sidewalk on the south side of N 41st Street. We expect this work to create some inconvenience for you and your neighbors. Vehicular traffic on N 41st Street will be limited to local access only for the duration of the work. Pedestrian access will be maintained to each property at all times. There may be short times when driveways are not accessible. However, prior notice will be given of these closures and we will work with each resident individually to notify and schedule this work. Because the new storm drain will be placed beneath the sidewalk, the sidewalk on the south side will be closed for the duration of the construction work. We will be excavating, laying pipe, and backfilling most of the trench each day. A temporary walking surface will be installed until a permanent concrete sidewalk can be poured.

Work will begin on N 41st Street at Stone Way N and proceed eastward. Due to the confined work space, parking must be prohibited. The block between Stone Way N and Interlake Ave N will have parking prohibited on both sides of the street for approximately the first four weeks of construction. Afterwards, parking will generally be allowed in this area during non-working hours on the north side of the street only. Parking will be prohibited on both sides during work hours (7:00 AM to 4:00 PM). The block between Interlake Ave N and Ashworth Ave N will have parking prohibited on both sides for almost the entire duration of the construction work.

Again, we understand that this work will be an inconvenience for you and your neighbors. We will be contacting you that reside on N 41st between Stone Way N and Ashworth Ave N to hear specific concerns and make accommodations for you to have access to your property. We can assure you that all work areas will be fully restored and be equal to or better than the current condition.
