41st Avenue NE Retaining Wall Project
Revised March 7, 2007
Major Street Repair Work Coming in April
In April 2007, SDOT will begin construction of a project to stabilize the north edge of 41st Ave NE, approximately 200 feet southeast of its intersection with NE 142nd Street. Street closure and traffic detours will be necessary.
The purpose of this project is to stabilize the street
and its associated underground utilities. It also
reduces the risk of a landslide and damage to the
private properties near the foot of the slope. The
project consists of constructing an approximately
150 foot long retaining wall with its associated
subsurface drainage system, reconstructing the
existing guardrail, and re-paving a portion of street
surface to protect public safety. It will be necessary
to some remove trees and relocate some utilities.
After the project is completed, the street will be
restored to its original configuration with two lanes.
- Construction work will take place between April
2007 and July 2007
- It will be necessary to temporarily close 41st
Avenue NE (just south of NE 142nd Street)
- Traffic will be detoured for approximately three to
four months
- Traffic will be able to access the closed area
utilizing NE 145th Street, Lake City Way NE,
35th Avenue NE, NE 125th Street, Sandpoint
Way NE, NE 123rd Street, and 42nd Avenue NE
