The Seattle Thunderbirds are an ice hockey team in Seattle, Washington that belongs to the Western Hockey League. The team's logo depicts a Native American carving of an eagle with the word "Seattle" etched into it. The team was founded in 1977 as the Seattle Breakers and became the Thunderbirds in 1985. They were the WHL Western Conference champions in 1997. The team’s home, the ShoWare Center is located 18 miles south of downtown Seattle, in the City of Kent.
