7. Columbia Police Station, 4923 Rainier Avenue S:

The multi-purpose Columbia Town Hall, built in 1891-92, included a Fire Department, Police Station, jail, library, and school. The historic photograph, taken in 1905, is dominated by the streetcar lines in the foreground, a reminder of the importance of the electric railway to the growth of Columbia City. The Columbia Fire Department is shown on the left side of the Town Hall. A pool hall (now Angie's Tavern) was conveniently located next door. The Town Hall was replaced in 1926 by the Columbia Police Station (now the Southwest Youth and Family Services Center), a reinforced concrete structure with brick trim. Its gable roof makes it unique among buildings in the Landmark District.
