Computer Camps
RecTech Coalition

Grant Award: $25,000

A partnership between seven Seattle Parks and Recreation computer labs to provide a series of computer camps for youth including instruction in Visual Basic, web design, and digital arts. Centers participating in this coalition include South Park, Delridge, Garfield, Miller, Rainier, Rainier Beach, and Yesler.

Grant Award: $5000

Increase computer literacy and technical business skills among low-income business owners through free business technology classes to help low-income people become more productive and effective in starting their own businesses.

Train 12 individuals to become computer skill trainers to accommodate for continuous computer skill training needs for the Ethiopian community in Seattle.

Grant Award: $7,000

Provide caregivers of the elderly and disabled access to the Internet to locate resources and to use computer technology for cognitive retraining and personal development.

Improve the capacity of the current computer lab by upgrading seven computers, creating a sound barrier to minimize noise, extending the network to include a volunteer computer, and target program development and outreach efforts.

Create a family literacy program at Leschi Elementary School that offers computer skills and software training for children and adults, literacy programs, homework assistance programs, and parenting programs.
