Community Technology

Jack Straw Productions
Blind Access Project

Blind and visually impaired youth and adults will be provided with a digital recording and editing workstation. The grant will enable Jack Straw staff to teach classes and offer individual blind community members the ability to record and edit their own radio programs and audio projects without the assistance of a sighted engineer. The project partners with Arts & Visually Impaired Audiences.

Jack Straw Productions is a nonprofit multidisciplinary arts center with a foundation in audio technology. We support artists working creatively with audio, teach all ages to express themselves creatively through Art & Technology education programs, and serve as an audio-based resource for community projects. Jack Straw Productions provides innovative educational opportunities in art and technology through a broad range of classroom, in-studio, and internship programs for children and adults. We provide hands-on training and experience in new audio technologies and teach artists, students, and other members of the community how to use technology to create, document, and present their work.
