May 10th Tech Vendor Forum -- a Big Success
On May 10th Seattle IT's contracting and procurement team partnering with their colleagues at King County held a forum for technology vendors in the Bertha Knight Landes Room at City Hall. Over 125 vendors and nearly 50 City and County IT staff participated. The feedback from participating vendors was excellent.
This is the third of these forums organized by the City and County and it is proving to be an invaluable event for vendors. Navigating the City system and bureaucracy is not an easy thing to do, whether you're a supplier of IT goods or provide professional services.
The forum provided a space where IT vendors could network with City and County IT experts. Vendors learned about City and County IT strategic directions, what products they are buying and what services they're seeking. Conversely, City and County IT learned from vendors. In a tech-driven city like Seattle, there is ample opportunity for innovation to improve how we deliver government services to better meet the demands of our growing population.
The City is committed to providing an equitable and fair opportunity for all vendors to learn about upcoming contracting needs and projects. We encourage WMBE contractors and vendors to attend these forums to meet IT directors and managers. If you are an IT vendor please stay tuned for our next tech forum which will be held sometime during the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2017.
