Ethics, Social Responsibility
What are important considerations in the content and delivery of information relative to ethics and social responsibility?

  • personal information and who owns it
  • information and data and the credibility of their sources
  • advertising and marketing usage and access
  • world events
  • our sense of well-being.
  • Junk email (spam)
  • Children and chat 'rooms'

Overarching Themes

Each discussion group will be asked to consider five themes as they discuss their subjects:

Access - the availability to use and experience information technology

Literacy - the understanding and skill level for using information technology

Infrastructure - wires, cables, access locations, components, distribution points

Content - personal, news, educational, data, entertainment

Diversity - access issues related to ethnic, economic, disabled, and other populations

This project is part of the City of Seattle Citizens Technology Literacy and Access initiative in cooperation with the volunteer Citizens Telecommunications and Technology Advisory Board (CTTAB) and Sustainable Seattle. Additional assistance for the forum is being provided by Progress Project of the Evans School of Public Affairs and the Glaser Progress Foundation and Seattle Community Network.
