Seattle Information Technology Indicators Project
The Seattle Information Technology Indicators Project provides a set of values and measurements describing the state of information technology as it impacts the social, economic, community and cultural health of Seattle. Data from this project also looks into citizen participation and use of e-government. The indicators project was developed to track the positive and negative impacts of technology over time and to be of value to a wide range of stakeholders concerned about community and economic development, education, human services, access to government services, civic participation, and equality in opportunity. The City of Seattle, working with a wide range of community, education and business stakeholders, created this set of indicators in 2000. We then conducted the research to provide data for the indicators in 2000 and again in 2004. We plan to conduct additional follow-up research in 2008.

Information Technology Indicators Project
What does a technology healthy community look like?
The Information Technology Indicators Project is one of a number of Citizens Technology Literacy and Access projects developed by the City of Seattle Department of Information Technology and the City’s Citizens Telecommunications and Technology Advisory Board (CTTAB). This project is intended to measure the impact of information technology on the health and vitality of the Seattle region. It began with a public process of defining values and then led to the development of specific indicators, followed by data collection and reporting.
