Excellence in Management Awards Program
The Excellence in Management Awards Program recognizes the accomplishments and skills of public employees based on peer nomination and selection. Any employee, work group or team is eligible for nomination. Some categories require SMA membership. Awards will be presented at SMA's Annual Member Appreciation and Awards Banquet on November 6th. Deadline for submitting nominations is September 15th. Submit a nomination form to SMA@seattle.gov
Leadership in Public Service
This award recognizes an individual or any SMA Member who consistently demonstrates the qualities of an effective and/or inspirational leader.
Leadership in Planning and Project Management
This award recognizes an individual, project, or program manager who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in establishing courses of actions for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently and successfully.
Leadership in Race and Social Justice
This award recognizes a person or team who has shown exceptional leadership in embracing cultural and ethnic diversity as an asset; eliminating institutional systems, practices, and policies that serve as barriers to race and social justice; and transforming civic and citizen engagement processes for greater inclusion and equity.
Leadership in Community Service
This award recognizes a City employee who has shown extraordinary dedication to promote and personally contribute to the community in which we work and live. Their commitment can be demonstrated through a variety of service and volunteer activities, financial or economic support, or by providing leadership to a charitable organization or community cause.
Leadership in Environmental Stewardship
Environmental stewardship has been described as the responsibility for environmental quality shared by all those whose actions affect the environment. This award acknowledges teams or individuals who have demonstrated care for the environment through their actions including the planning, development and implementation of programs and projects.
Leadership in Team Success
This award acknowledges an organizationally recognized team of three or more people that is not project based, whose function as a team has enabled the group to achieve a high level of service and reliability. Nomination should include a complete list of members.
SMA Members Choice
This new award category is designed to involve members in the SMA Awards Program in a unique and impactful way. At the close of the nomination process, the SMA Board will forward summaries of nominations to the members and ask you to submit a vote for the one nomination you believe deserves to be called out and recognized. The nomination that receives the most votes from our membership will be designated the SMA Members Choice Award for 2014.
