ABOUT THE ROBBERY UNIT The 10-person Robbery unit investigates robberies throughout the city of Seattle. Once a report is received and assigned, a detective can spend their day doing a myriad of tasks. All evidence gathered at the scene, including witness and victim statements, photographs, video surveillance, and 911 tapes are studied and analyzed for possible suspects. Detectives will canvas the streets looking for their suspect or file a warrant for their arrest. A photomontage can also be utilized for witnesses to provide a positive ID on a suspect. The unit augments patrol by listening to the police scanner at all times. If they hear of a robbery in progress, specifically at a bank, they will answer the call along side patrol. There is also a special FBI Task Force that 2 Robbery detectives are assigned to. Their responsibility is solely to bank robberies. The joint partnership provides investigators an avenue to share valuable information and ultimately, arrest the guilty party.
