FOUNDATION NEWS 2012 Evening of Hope Gala honors R. Gil Kerlikowske, Anna Laszlo and the Seattle Police Foundation
The Seattle Police Foundation raises support and awareness for the Seattle Police Department. SPF was founded on the premise that a safe and viable community is the result of strong partnerships supporting public safety. To that end, we help keep our community safe by investing in community outreach, training, technology, and equipment programs in partnership with the Seattle Police Department. Keeping A Blue Light On: A Citizen’s Tribute to the Seattle Police Department The new edition of "Keeping a Blue Light On: A Citizen's Tribute to the Seattle Police Department" is now available for $29.99. The hardcover coffee-table size book features photographs of and interviews with members of the Seattle Police Department conducted by Stacey Sanner. The book is a tribute to the five Seattle-area officers who were murdered in late 2009 including Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton and the four Lakewood police officers. It also honors all the members of the Seattle Police Department for their daily commitment. Proceeds benefit the Seattle Police Foundation. The book is available on Amazon.com and at Seattle-area stores: The Elliott Bay Book Company, Third Place Books, Parkplace Books, the Seattle Police Museum and the Bridle Trails ACE Hardware Store in Kirkland, one of the hardware stores at the forefront of the movement to display blue lights as a sign of support for law enforcement during that painful time in late 2009. For over a hundred years the Seattle Police Department has had a Mounted Patrol Unit. They perform a variety of safety and outreach functions. The SPD’s budget constraints put the Mounted Patrol in jeopardy, until the Seattle Police Foundation stepped up to help preserve this important tool.
