Evidence Unit

The Evidence Unit is open to the public to reclaim their lost or stolen items after they have been released by the investigating officer or detective. 

Please carefully read and follow the below listed instructions

LOCATION AND HOURS OF OPERATION

The Evidence Unit is located at 730 South Stacy Street, Building C, which is approximately 1 mile south of downtown Seattle. There is free parking and an ADA accessible ramp into the public lobby area.

The Evidence Unit is open to the public
Monday - Friday 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

We are closed on all holidays and weekends.

BEFORE VISITING THE EVIDENCE UNIT

Please call the Evidence Unit phone number at (206) 684-8720 and press 8 to speak with Evidence personnel. You need to confirm that the item(s) that you are retrieving have been released by the investigating officer or detective. We will not release anything without proper authorization.

If you do not know the name of the officer or detective who is handling your case or investigation, you can call our Records Unit at (206) 684-5454 and they will help you locate that information. When you call, Records personnel will ask you for your Incident/Case/Report number. This number will always begin with the year in which the incident occurred (e.g. 07-123456).

ITEMS TO BRING WITH YOU

You must have valid, personal, government issued photo identification and your Incident/Case/Report number. In addition, any paperwork that was sent to you such as a notification card, letter, etc.

HAVING ANOTHER PERSON RETRIEVE YOUR PROPERTY

If you are having someone else pick up your property, you can either contact the officer or detective and request that person release the property to your designee or your designee must have a legal notarized statement from you authorizing him/her to pick up your items.

Press 2 for general information about obtaining your property
Press 3 for the Found Property Detective (found property ONLY inquiries)
Press 4 for court ordered surrender of firearms.
Press 8 to speak with Evidence personnel.

DIRECTIONS

BY BUS

Metro transit routes 131 and 134 stop at Airport Way S. and S. Stacy Street. From the bus stop, walk one block west to the second driveway on the north side of the street.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

If you are driving from the north, take I-5 southbound and use the Airport Way S. exit number 164. Go approximately ½ mile and turn right onto S. Stacy Street. Once on S. Stacy Street, turn right into the second driveway on the right and park in the posted visitor’s parking lot immediately to your left.

If you are driving from the south, take I-5 northbound to the Spokane Street exit. Stay in the left lane of the exit ramp and follow the signs to the lower roadway. The traffic light at the bottom of the ramp is 6th Ave. South. Turn right onto 6th Ave. South and go approximately ½ mile to S. Stacy Street. Turn right across the railroad tracks and turn left into the first driveway on the left. Please park in the posted visitor’s parking lot that is immediately to your left.

The public entrance to the lobby is located at the top of the wheelchair accessible ramp, which is adjacent to the posted visitor’s parking lot.
