On 3-6-08 the Rainier Chamber of Commerce honored Officer Don Jones and Officer Adley Shepherd as their Officers of the quarter. Both Officers attended the award ceremony at the Rainier Chamber of Commerce luncheon. [Read More]

South Precinct Officers Atofau and Gregorio responded to a narcotics call where the landlord discovered numerous marijuana plants inside her rental house (the renters were not home when the landlord made a premise check). When officers arrived they found an elaborate marijuana grow operation, over 250 three foot plus sized plants, grow equipment, etc.

On 1/6/08 Radio broadcast a vehicle description after the driver pointed a handgun at a person standing at a bus stop at Rainier and Henderson. Officer Grieve located the vehicle at Rainier and Kenyon and pursued it after the vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle turned onto a dead end street and a passenger bailed out of the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody after Sgt. Waltz located the handgun in the dirt where it had been thrown from the vehicle. The suspect was booked into the KCJ.

Officer Stewart responded to Rainier and Henderson to investigate a person down on the ground from a gunshot wound. The victim was found and from physical evidence officers believe that the victim had a gun in his waistband that went off and caused the injury to his leg. The victim was taken to HMC.
