NACOLE Code of Ethics OPA ADOPTS NACOLE CODE OF ETHICS The Seattle Police Department's Office of Professional Accountability is committed to seeing that complaints brought to the OPA are investigated in a expeditious manner while ensuring fairness and thoroughness for everyone involved in the process. Towards that end and in support of our desire to promote public trust, integrity and transparency, the OPA has adopted the Code of Ethics recommended by the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE). WHAT IS NACOLE? NACOLE is an organization that makes significant contributions to the field of police oversight and conducts outreach activities to cities considering the creation of new oversight entities. Seattle’s OPA is a member of NACOLE and participates on the committee that develops professional standards and ethics regarding civilian oversight. OPA fully supports NACOLE's vision and goal to become recognized as the preferred source of information, support, and advocacy in the field of law enforcement oversight.
