DEMOGRAPHER’S CURRENT WORK PLAN HIGHLIGHTS:
Track the City’s Progress in Achieving Ongoing Public Policy Goals for Urban Planning and Community Development
- Planning for Growth - Assist with the upcoming major Comprehensive Plan Update including the development of housing targets and other metrics for Comprehensive Plan goals and policies
- Seattle’s Neighborhood Plans - Provide demographic analysis to assist with neighborhood plan updates
- Housing Affordability - Assisting in the annual update of the Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development, and coordinating in the development of further affordability monitoring tools
Measure Broad Quality of Life Outcomes in Major Policy Areas Including Sustainability, Affordability, Livability, and Mobility
- Create ongoing series of trends reports and bulletins to help inform city policymakers on key demographic and related trends
Provide Demographic Analysis and Facilitate Technical Collaboration to Inform Planning and Policy Development
- 2010 Census and American Community Survey data access, analysis and dissemination
- Provide training & advice for identifying and using demographic and related data sources
- Convene and facilitate interdepartmental Data Collaboration Team to enhance sharing of data sources and knowledge to better inform planning and policy development
- Serve on and advise Seattle Census 2010 Complete Count Committee
- Liaison to Puget Sound Regional Technical Forum and Census State Data Center
