Class Summary:
Positions
in this class perform specialized semi-skilled work in the maintenance and
repair of golf course grounds and facilities.
Duties will include manual labor and assisting a Golf Course
Groundskeeper II or Golf Course Technician as needed.
Distinguishing
Characteristics of the Class:
This class is the first level of a two level class series in
the service and maintenance occupation group.
This class is distinguished from the Golf Course Groundskeeper II by the
II’s emphasis on the specialized techniques and standards required for
maintenance and repair of golf course and related facilities.
This position performs specific tasks as directed by a lead
worker or a supervisor. Very little
independent decision making is required. Personal
contacts are with golf course patrons, and vendors when picking up supplies or
performing maintenance.
Examples of Work:

Performs manual labor on
a daily basis that may include, but is not limited to:

Litter pick-up and changing garbage liners

Raking golf course bunkers

Raking leaves and setting golf course up for plan

Changing flag cups
-
Watering golf course manually where needed

Digging holes
-
Painting yardage markers
-
Loading and unloading supplies
-
Trimming or pruning hedges
-
Spreading bark in flower beds
-
Use hand tools and small power equipment such as a gas
powered weed eater, blower, or other walk behind equipment used for
maintenance of greens and grounds.

May assist Groundskeeper II in general golf course
maintenance duties as assigned.
Work
Environment/Physical Demands:
Requires the ability to work outside 95% of the time, in all
types of weather conditions. Required
to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
May need to utilize some personal protective equipment such as
respirator, gloves, ear protection, boots, and hats.

Licensing and Other
Requirements:
A current
Washington
State
driver’s license is
required.
