We prefer that you register online and utilize our secure Visa or MasterCard system for your application registration payment. If you are unable to pay the fee due to financial hardship, you will be given the option of completing a fee waiver.

 

Fire Entry-Level Exam Application

Application Filing Period is Currently Closed
 
Police Officer Application/Exam Process

Application Period: January 10, 2009 (Entry-level exam now full, so filing period has been closed for entry-level applicants.)

Lateral Entry applicants may still apply online to test on January 10, 2009 (until December 10, 2008)

The next exam for both entry-level and lateral applicants is scheduled to occur on February 7, 2009.  The filing period for this exam will open on December 11, 2008.

Exam date: January 10, 2008 (Lateral-entry only)

Location: Notification will be sent you via US mail - Approximately 2 weeks prior to the exam


Note: Applicants must wait six (6) months to re-test (The 6-month rule only applies if you actually take the test, not if you submit an application but are unable to come to the test.)

Entry Level Applicants

  1. The Written examination will be administered on:
    Saturday, January 10, 2009

  2. If you achieve a passing score on the written examination you will be invited to participate in the Physical Agility examination on:
    Afternoon, Saturday, January 10, 2009

  3. If you achieve a passing score on the Physical Agility Examination you, and you are an out-of-state resident, you will be invited to participate in the Oral Interview Board process on:
    Sunday, January 11, 2009

  4. Both in-state candidates and candidates who are out-of-state residents will be invited to complete the written Personal History Questionnaire immediate on:
    Sunday, January 11, 2009

  5. If you are a candidate who currently resides outside Washington State, you will be scheduled for an interview with a background detective on:Monday, January 12, 2009

Lateral Applicants
  1. The Written examination will be administered on:
    Saturday, January 10, 2009

  2. If you achieve a passing score on the written exam you will be asked to complete:
    - Personal History Questionnaire(PHQ)
    - Interview with Seattle Police Background Detective

The completion of the PHQ will take place onSaturday, January 10, 2009 after the administration of the written exam. The remainder of the process will be conducted on Monday, January 12, 2008.

Request an Application by Mail
During an open or ongoing application filing period, an application may be requested through the mail by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope ($.63 stamp for Fire Fighter Application and $.55 for Police Officer Application) to:

Seattle, WA 98124-4028

Please write "Fire Fighter" or "Police Officer" in the lower right hand corner of the envelope to indicate which application you are requesting.
