Lateral Police Officer candidates are experienced police officers who have worked full time for other municipal, county, or state police agencies for at least 24 consecutive months in the past 36 months (post academy experience) at the time of testing, with full police powers and duties. The academy training received must be equivalent to that administered by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Academy. If you are currently a police officer but do not meet the experience requirements of a Lateral Police Officer, it is possible that you may qualify to test as an Exceptional Entry candidate with other Entry Level candidates. Candidates who pass the written exam will be scheduled for an oral board interview on May 19, 2018.
