A Brief HistoryIn partnership with the Seattle's Lifelong Recreation Programs and other Parks and Recreation Departments including Mercer Island, Kirkland, Redmond, Shoreline, and Bellevue, the Northwest Senior Games began as the Greater Seattle Senior Games in 1998 starting with eight sports with a festival weekend format. The games have now grown to more than twelve sports and are becoming a year long program of events and activities. More than 500 senior athletes competed in 2007 and we have instituted the Phil Flash Inspiration Award recognizing one athlete who depicts the passion for competition and sportsmanship while providing an example demonstrating that age does not stop determination and the importance of staying active. *Note: To view a PDF, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader.
