The recently adopted City Budget divides Pro Park funding between two projects: a pedestrian overpass at Thomas Street; and a pedestrian overpass at the proposed Olympic Sculpture Park. Seattle Transportation is managing the Thomas Street overpass Project. Parks will develop the Sculpture Park pedestrian overpass in cooperation with the Seattle Art Museum, the park developer.

The Pro Parks Levy provides $3,000,000 for Belltown/Lower Queen Anne waterfront connections.

| PROJECT DESCRIPTION |
The Pro Parks Levy funds waterfront connections at Belltown/Lower Queen Anne across the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad track. The Levy funding has been divided between the two pedestrian connections projects as follows:
Olympic Sculpture Park
$1,510,000 will fund a pedestrian crossing of Alakan Way and the railroad tracks in the block between Broad and Eagle Streets in the proposed park. The City Council also allocated $579,000 from the Cumulative Reserve Funds for the connection.
Thomas Street
The remaining Pro Parks funds were included in the City Budget allocation of $2,929,108 for a pedestrian overpass at Thomas Street. In addition to Pro Parks funds, this amount included funding from Shoreline Park Improvement Funds and a small amount of funds from other sources. |

| COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION |

Parks met with a community organizations in Belltown and Queen Anne during the summer of 2002 to discuss funding options for this project. More opportunities for input will be defined during SDOT implementation of the Thomas Street overpass.
