PROJECT STATUS

July 2008
Construction of the Peace Park renovation is scheduled to begin in mid-July 2008. The renovation work includes ADA accessibility, safety modifications, new sidewalk and paths, new stairway, and parking for ADA, bus and maintenance use. Landscaping and planting renovation are also planned.
In conjunction with the construction of the Peace Park improvements we will also construct a segment of the Cheshiahud Trail along NE 40th Street from 7th Ave NE to the Peace Park. This segment will provide a link between the Burke Gilman Trail and the University Bridge. For more information on the Cheshiahud trail check the link below.

The Pro Parks Levy provides $126,691 project costs of planning, design and construction.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Upgrade the area around the Burke-Gilman Trail near the University Bridge, I-5 bridge, and Peace Park. Improve the landscaping and paths. Peace Park is in the public Right of Way owned by SDOT and is at a junction of several transportion modes including motor vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
