Parks has reached preliminary agreement with the owner of a 39,000 square foot property at 7028 – 9th Ave NW for a new neighborhood park. Mayor Nickels attended Groundswell Northwest’s annual meeting on March 11 and announced that Seattle Parks has reached a deal to acquire property for a new park on 9th NW, north of NW 70th Street.

BUDGET

Pro Parks Levy funds will be used for this acquisition. The City will be
submitting applications for grants from King County Conservation Futures Tax and the Washington State Recreation Conservation Office

SCHEDULE
Planning: Legislation is in process for City Council authority to complete the acquisition of this property.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Project Description:
On July 29, 2002 Seattle City Council unanimously approved Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund funding to acquire sites for new neighborhood parks in underserved areas of Ballard.
