This property was acquired on August 29, 2003. In April 2003, a purchase and sale agreement was signed for Parks acquisition of the property. See 4/25/03 press release. On July 29, 2002 Seattle City Council unanimously approved Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund funding to acquire property for a new park/community garden in the Maple Leaf neighborhood near Northgate. In 2005, Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Funds were approved toward the development of the park and garden. See Maple Leaf Community Garden development project.

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
|
A community event to celebrate the acquisition of property
for a new community garden/park in Maple Leaf was held on September 20,
2003. The event recognized those who contributed time, funding, energy
and expertise to make this acquisition a reality.
The community long advocated for purchase of property for a new community garden in the Maple Leaf neighborhood. The Maple Leaf Community Council nominated this project through the Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund, and continues to raise funds toward the project. ( RETURN
