Thank you Seattle! Your support of the Pro Parks Levy and your participation in levy projects has benefited every neighborhood in Seattle. The Pro Parks Levy, an eight-year $198.2 million levy, has been an integral part of making Seattle Parks and Recreation a world-class park system. The future of Seattle Parks and Recreation is an exciting one. In this City, there is an energy and excitement about public parks that is unique and forward thinking. This is reflected in the recent passing the new 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy.

Acquisition

The levy provides funds to create more than 30 new parks in Seattle neighborhoods and to preserve wooded green spaces.

Development

The Pro Parks Levy is drawing to a close, with over 110 park development projects completed. There are a few more development projects currently in progress such as Crown Hill, Dakota Place Park Phase II, Delridge Skatepark, and University Heights. The Pro Parks projects include everything from habitat restoration to ballfield improvements to art installations to city trails.

Environmental Stewardship,
Maintenance, and Programming

Environmental stewardship, enhanced maintenance, new teen programs, Learn to Swim, senior services and Zoo programs are all included in the Levy's program funding.

Opportunity Fund

Citizens submitted nominations for park acquisition and development projects through two cycles of the Levy's Opportunity Fund, and dozens of projects are being implemented.

Oversight Committee

A citizens Pro Parks Levy Oversight Committee meets regularly to provide oversight for the Levy, including project scheduling and recommendations for the Levy's Opportunity Fund.
