Project Information

Location: 4723-4731 40th SW

Project Status

Thank you Seattle this acquisition is complete.
On April 3, 2014 Seattle Parks and Recreation closed on the property adjacent to Dakota Place Park. Dakota Place Park is located at the northern edge of the West Seattle Junction Hub Urban Village, is heavily used by neighbors and has strong community support. The City has been trying to acquire this property for the past decade. The addition of the property to the north will provide more outdoor useable area, which is somewhat constrained by the 1930 landmarked City Light substation building that has been renovated and opened up for Public use. Development of the new property is contingent on future funding.

On December 28, 2012, Seattle Park's purchased the property at 4731 40th SW to the west of the new proposed development at 4755 Fauntleroy Way.

On October 31, 2013, Seattle Parks acquired the adjoining property at 4723 40th SW to complete the project. The new park will be .40 acres.

The future park will be home to the interim fire station for the next couple of years.
