Washington Park Playfield Renovation
Parks and Green Spaces Levy
Project Information

Location: 1017 Lake Washington Boulevard East

Project Status

Thank you Seattle! This project is complete.

As part of this field renovation project Seattle Parks and Recreation also improved the restrooms at the playfield making them ADA compliant. During the construction, we encountered voids below the existing floor on both restrooms since it sits on top of historic landfill. This caused some delay, the issue was safely resolved.

Thank you for your patience during this construction.

Seattle Parks scheduled the first games for this new playfield on February 1, 2013. The sports community is happy to have this new playfield that replaced the existing all weather sand/silt field with synthetic turf to provide adult soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, softball, pony league baseball, lacrosse, and football.

It also improves ADA accessibility and replaces the existing field lights with more energy efficient, neighborhood friendly lighting.

Parks worked with a lighting consultant and as with all lighting replacement projects it is Parks goal to eliminate as much objectionable glare and light spill into the neighborhood sky as possible, while providing safe and efficient lights.
