Parks finalized the purchase of a .15-acre (6,650 s.f.) property, located at the northwest corner of 35th Avenue S & S Charlestown Street.

Parks is working to secure an adjacent site and is in negotiations at this time.

This 2008 Parks & Green Spaces Levy acquisition is the first of two acquisitions designed to provide this community with a neighborhood park.

The seller was Southeast Effective Development, or SEED, a not-for-profit community development corporation which has built multi-family housing projects in the neighborhood – several more are in planning. Negotiations are underway to purchase additional property from SEED to increase the size of the park.

Project Description

The Parks and Green Spaces Levy provides $24 million for the acquisition of neighborhood parks in up to 20 identified areas throughout the City. The North Rainier Residential Urban Village was included in that list.
