Project Information

Location: 1618 E Calhoun Street

Project Status

January 2013
At the third and final meeting, Seattle Parks heard that people wanted more of the options from the second meeting than were included in the schematic plan. Please read below and learn how Parks is presenting an opportunity to offer further input.

Parks is working with the play area manufacturers to refine their proposals for some of the play equipment included in the Montlake Play Area renovation. Your input on each of the options, at right, will help Parks make a final decision on which equipment to use.

Please compare the two alternatives in each PDF, that is compare A with B (Climbers for ages 2-5 You will need adobe acrobat reader to view this document.), C with D (Climbers for ages 5-12 You will need adobe acrobat reader to view this document.), and E with F (Net Climbers You will need adobe acrobat reader to view this document.) and let us know what you think. You don’t need to compare the three groups with each other just compare equipment per age range We would like to know which play events you like, which you don’t care for, and whether you like the ‘look’ of the equipment.

Please be specific, keeping in mind that some changes, such as colors or substituting one play event for another, can still be made. The more information you give us the better! Other equipment that will be included in the project include swings, (four 10’ high and two 8’ high), a whirl (merry-go-round), a sand box, and other small play elements as budget and space allow.

Please email your comments to pamela.alspaugh@seattle.gov. We need your input by February 8, 2013.

The second meeting was held on October 30, 2012. Pamela Alspaugh, reviewed information gathered from the first meeting and explained how the options presented addressed those ideas. The adults and children that attended this second meeting reviewed the different play equipment options and a lively group discussion ensued. Together we discussed park elements, ideas for this park, descriptions of how people would use the park and other ideas. Notes from this meeting are below.

This project will renovate the play area at the Montlake Community Center. Planning for the project has begun, and Pamela Alspaugh is the designer.
