An opening celebration was held on December 5, 2009 for Lower Woodland Park Field #2 & #7. Over 100 people attended including many teams from Seattle Youth Soccer Association.

Field #7 is anticipated to be finished by the end of November 2009.

The project was publicly bid in June 2009 and the construction contract was awarded to A-1 Landscaping and Construction. A groundbreaking ceremony took place on July 23, 2009 with Mayor Nickels and Superintendent Tim Gallagher.
A public meeting was held on March 12, 2009 to discuss the improvements for the Lower Woodland Park Playfields #2 and #7. The 2008 Parks Levy provides funding for these improvements.

Project Description

The renovation replaces the existing sand/silt fields with synthetic turf. The project provides adult soccer, men's lacrosse and energy efficient lighting for Playfield #7. It will provide adult soccer, women's lacrosse and Ultimate Frisbee for Playfield #2.
This project will meet Park recreational needs, neighborhood plans and input, City Codes and Parks standards.
