Project Status

Thank you Seattle! This project is complete.
Children from Lawton Elementary and the neighborhood flocked to the renovated play area in Lawton Park on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 after Seattle Parks and Recreation removed construction fencing.

The two pathways leading to the play area from the east and west were also restored and are heavily used by children going to school and the park. The new play area has a natural feel with 'treehouse' features and faux stone wall.

The project was designed by Seattle Parks Landscape Architect, Shwu-jen Hwang, and built by P.I. Resources Construction.

Many of the ideas came from the community during the public meetings! Thank you to the community for your participation in the planning of Lawton Play Area!

Project Description

The Parks and Green Spaces Levy identified the park for renovation of the existing play area. The goal of this project is to install new play equipment and access improvements that meet reasonable ADA and safety standards, provide good play value for park users and make the park a desirable place to gather and play.
