The focus of this project is to provide for the design and construction of a new skate park facility as identified in the Citywide Skatepark Plan and funded by the 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy.
This project upholds Parks' Strategic Action Plan by encouraging healthy and active lifestyles, addresses the requests of skateboarders to have more skate parks within the city, and adds to the variety of recreational uses available at this wonderful new city park.
The general design criteria is to create a skate park for people of all ages and skill levels. The park will provide enough interest to keep users coming back as they master new skills and grow in the sport.
Some of the main features of the park include a deep bowl alongside shallower bowls, a shallow hexagonal elevated dish, and streetscape features. Lighting will be included as an additive bid item. If bids come in low enough to afford the lighting, it will be completed.
