Parks and Green Spaces Levy
Project Information

Location: 1400 East Prospect Street in Volunteer Park

Project Status

The 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy includes $9 million to support the renovation of the Seattle Asian Art Museum (SAAM) in Volunteer Park. The Levy funds were to be supplemented with fundraising by the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) which operates the City-owned facility. However, due to the most recent economic recession, SAM will not be able to undertake a capital campaign to raise funds for the renovation until a future date. Therefore, SAM and the City agreed to re-program the Levy funding for other parks needs, which include 12 major maintenance projects. The City will honor the $9M commitment when SAM is able to raise the necessary funds for project.
